"Week 6 Review
This is my favorite post from the week. I like it because some times I feel like we get discouraged when we dont know how to do something. We should not get discouraged though because doing things that we do not know how to do is the only way we can learn to do them.

Extra Reading Diary: Chinese Fairy Tales
These were my thoughts as I was reading Chinese Fairy Tales
The Favorite of Fortune and the Child of Ill Luck- I guess you can take a person out of a situation but you can never really change who they are.
The Cave of the Beasts- It was messed up that the father was going to kill his daughters over eggs but I think what they were trying to show is to tell the truth, dont keep secrets and to forgive each other.
The Panther- this story reminded me of the big bad wolf. I always thing its interesting when there are similar stories from different places.
Why Dog and Cat are Enemies- this is like a shorter version of story when the prince loses his ring so the animals go out and find it but in this story the dog and cat end up hating each other
Yang Oerlang- I thought it was pretty cool that he just picked up mountains and smashed the suns with them. im glad he left one though or we would have a hard time seeing.
The Lady of the Moon- this was a little confusing because i thought we just read about the suns being destroyed. do they havedifferent tellings of this in other stories as well?
The Girl with the Horse’s Head or the Silkworm Goddess- this story was very strange there were a few things that just did not seam right about it.
The God of War- Guan Yu is so cool he is such a mighty warrior. He is the reason I read this section. I really like him and the values that he holds.

The Miserly Farmer- he got him pretty good maybe if he had just helped it would not have ended so bad. also it makes me think of aladdin for some reason.
The King of the Ants- I am really not sure what i just read here. ok after reading that Emmet means ant it makes a little more scene. just because your king of something does not mean that your are the most powerful

Reading Diary B: The Monkey King Sun Wu Kung
These were my thoughts as I was reading The Monkey King Sun Wu Kung
I really liked the story of the monkey king. I thought that he was a good charter. his name is a good description of what he really is. A Monkey King. Monkeys are smart and witty but they also cause trouble just as the monkey king did. Kings are wise and powerful. when you put the two words together you get someone who causes a little bit trouble but who is also very powerful and this is exactly what the monkey king is. As i was reading i was wondering why he was a monkey like why did the original story teller make him a monkey. they best thing i could come up with would be so that it is ok if he does foolish things. In The Destiny of Sun Wu Kung the circlet that is placed on Sun Wu Kung must be very powerful if it is able to control him. As i was reading i was disappointed that the story was coming to an end because like many of the other stories i thought it was just going to come to a stop. I really liked that it included a synopsis of the other stories in Journey to the West (synopsis) and that we were able to see the adventurers that he goes on in Journey to the West (conclusion) . I liked at the very end when it says " and lo! the helmet was gone." the monkey king mush have been so happy to finally reach his goal and have that circlet removed

Reading Diary A: The Monkey King Sun Wu Kung
These were my thoughts as I was reading The Monkey King Sun Wu Kung
these were my favorite stories so far. In fact I liked them so much that I read them all the way through with out stopping to take notes. (oops). I had been looking forward to reading these stories because there is a game that I like to play called smite and Sun Wu Kung is one of the the people you can play as. It was cool learning about the rod that he uses in The Dragon-Queen because this is the same thing that he uses in the game but I never knew where it came from. There were a lot of things that I learned from playing smite about Sun Wu Kung but there were many new thing that I learned from this reading. In Handsome King of the Apes i never knew that he came from an egg of stone. or in The Master I never knew how clever Sun Wu Kung really was. I liked the part where he was hit three times but understood that the master was not mad but that he was telling him to meet him. At some points I even felt bad for Sun Wu Kung. Like in Sun Wu Kung Departs when he turned in to a tree but then was forced to leave.
I am really excited to read the other half of these stories and find out what happens now that he is fully trained and has a weapon and armor.
